Forgive me if this has been asked a million times, I honestly looked for it in the tags and such. I'm very interested in taking steps toward promoting vaginal health, but so far the biggest thing I've heard is to eat lots of yogurt. As a vegan I cannot do that. Are there any other methods to promoting vaginal health that would be in accordance with my lifestyle?

So this past week has been my first period in a while, thanks to switching birth control pills like I switch my underwear (which is often). So I get massive monster cramps that would knock out a rhino and bled A LOT (for me). So several nights ago, I get a telltale rumbly in my tumbly so I make a dash for my bathroom. Several minutes later, I survey the damage. The massive shit that I had just expelled was so long, it stuck out of the toilet water for about 3 inches. I was baffled! How could that much fit in me?! I ended up laughing about it, but it was craaazy.

So, the other night, I woke up about 3 am,fighting and thrashing against my blankets, gagging at the most awful smell. I go to roll over and shove on my 6 year old daughter, who is sharing my bed while we get ready to move, only to find she is under her own blankets sleeping peacefully. It wasn't her. That's right, ladies...I dutch ovened myself in my sleep. And it was so bad it woke me up. So I was wondering...has any one else had that happen to them?

My boyfriend is coming to visit a week from tomorrow (Sunday). I had been on medication for a UTI, but thankfully, as of yesterday, it had cleared up. Yesterday (Friday) I took Levaquin, but now I have an awful cold and took Tylenol (acetaminophen) today. I didn't take Levaquin today. I read on my package insert that acetaminophen can interfere with birth control. My question is, how long are these drugs going to be in my body before I am fully protected? Should I use a backup method of birth control for the week that my boyfriend is here? I want to make sure that I am fully protected from pregnancy. I read the vaginapagina info about this, but I looked up the info for how long the drugs stay in your system online and got conflicting information. I am so confused :(

Hi.
I screwed up and took out my Ring to have sex and didn't remember to put it back in for another 8 hours. Will I need to take Plan B?
Ah, if it helps any, I'm supposed to change it out on Tuesday, so I'm near the end of my cycle.

1)Hey VPers. I'm currently in a bit of pain. I've got a pinchy/poking-wth-a-needle feeling around my right ovary. I've been having a rough time down there lately, on my second month of a resistant yeastie, and I also had BV. I don't know what this feeling is/if it's linked to the YI. Also my pee has smelt strong/different sometimes but I think that might be the constant medications for the YI/BV. And as I"m writing this, I'm getting a tiny pain in my left, too. I'm not too sure what to do :(. Help me please? I don't have appendicitis, just to rule that out! Got it last September. I also had an ultrasound in January to check for endometriosis signs, and no ovarian cysts were mentioned then.
2) Now that i've given it a few days, my YI is somewhat better, but the pastey white discharge is still there. These started when I began Levora birth control (because seasonique gave me a three month period.) Everything with this pill is great, but the minute i started, and since then, I've had a yeast infection that has been resistant to 4 rounds of Diflucan and Monistat. I am not open to home remedies, just because as far as right now goes, I don't want to toy with it, and see what happens. But basically, has this happened to someone? I want to know if I should switch birth control, as much as I don't want to, just so I can get rid of these. I'm sure I could find something else that works. I would get tested for diabetes (which I have gotten recently) and other things, but my gut is telling me its the HBC, seeing that its the first time since I was 13 that I've gotten a yeast infection. I need some help and my gyno's appt is april 7th (which i can't attend due to class.) So now I'm on my own.
Any help? :( I've been depressed because of my lack of a sex life, and haven't been able to enjoy anything. I also have an anxiety disorder so I can hardly sleep due to being so scared of living like this. I need this to stop and I can't live like this anymore. It's making me so depressed :( I feel so gross and ugly because of it, and I feel like it's my fault. I just want to be healthy.

| Spotting on Aviane |

I just started taking Aviane (generic Alesse) and I'm having some problems with spotting. I started taking the pill right when I got it, which was after ovulation. (I'm not sexually active right now.) Week 1 was fine. Week 2 I had spotting plus my period (which I expected since I started taking Aviane after ovulating). Week 3...still spotting. Now I'm coming up on the placebo week.
I REALLY want to stop spotting by the end of next week because I have some guaranteed sexytime scheduled with a long distance friend. Should I start another Aviane pack and skip the placebo week (so my body has more time to adjust to the new hormone levels) or take the placebo week?

| Some pretties and a request for craft fair advice |

To all you experienced craftgrrls out there who have done craft shows and fairs: can I ask your advice? I've never done it before, so like... I am so terrified! I love making stuff, and I just have so much stuff I've made; I don't wear it all and I've given a lot away and still have quite a bit, so I've been thinking maybe I should do some craft fairs and try at least making more material or supply funds, because this hobby can be rather expensive.
I don't know, for instance, how much stuff is enough to make a good presentation? Is it complicated to get all the tax papers and such? Should I worry that my stuff doesn't look all the same style? What sorts of things shouldn't I do/have at my table? Should I be concerned about things like... well, that a lot of my wire jewelry is made from craft wire and not precious metals, for instance?
Anyway, here's what I've been working on.

I'm a very worried person and this might be a stupid question. So, I got my period back in Febuary and I wasn't taking any BC at the time. After my period was finished I waited a couple of weeks to get back on BC. When I first started taking it I would sometimes take at 10:00 then 10:30 then one time I took it around noon and I know you're supposed to take at the same time but I have picked a time to take it which is at 10:00 recently. Today I was like fifteen minutes lates of taking it, would it still be effective? Like I said at the beginning of taking active pills I switched times alot but for maybe a couple of weeks now I take it at the same time.
This is probably stupid question I know..but would it be less effective if I'm just a little bit late?

| Bad Smell |

In the past 3 months, I've noticed a HORRIBLE smell after I pee. It's not an always thing, but its the same smell every once in a while. I've had a new sexual partner since Jan 1 this year. I had a normal pap smear a month ago, and I've had an IUD inserted January 28th. Before the IUD insertion, I got the STD tests. But I noticed the smell before the IUD insertion, so its not that for sure...What could it be? Oh and also when I run...the smell after my runs is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO terrible, but its a different kind of smell. ugh I feel so gross. But ive told my doctor about this smell before..and she just brushes it off. I don't smell like BO after my runs, the smell is specifically from down there... :(
I should also add that I've never had an yeast infection, and that my partner is in the air force and gets checked ALL the time.

I have a few questions that I am sure some of you will be able to answer. I am looking in to purchasing a Diva Cup and I would like opinions. I know several of you use the Diva Cup and I would like your thoughts on it.
Where did you get yours? What was the cost? How easy is it to put in? To take out? How easy is it to clean?
I have read the Diva Cup web page but would like to hear other opinions. I have a small frame and am concerned over fit and comfort because the only tampons I can wear comfortably are the regular size.

I was on HBC for the past 1.5 years and i stopped taking early last month and have been using condoms since. My last period ended Feb 8, so i should have gotten it roughly two weeks ago, but I haven't. For the past 3 weeks i've been absolutely exhausted for no reason and i've been really bloated and queasy. Is it possible that i could be pregnant, or is it more likely that my body is screwing with me and giving me early PMS symptoms? I hear that coming off the pill can make your period schedule kindof wonky but at what point should I be more concerned?

| Preventing HPV transmission between women |

If two women both have high-risk HPV, and assuming for safety's sake that they have different strands of the virus and are thus still a danger to one another, what can they do to prevent transmitting HPV to one another? Obviously skin-to-skin contact like scissoring is out, but what about oral and manual contact, as long as it isn't a case of touching one vulva and then immediately touching the other? How can hands be sanitized in between to prevent transmission - is hand washing ok, or hand sanitizer, or would latex gloves (changing in between women) be necessary?
Similarly, if a third person is performing oral on both women, what can this third do to prevent transmitting HPV back and forth - is a dental dam necessary, or can the third just wash their face in between?
I'm considering a threesome situation where both I and the other woman have been diagnosed with high-risk HPV in the past, and we have not yet been proven to have cleared the virus from our bodies. It's something I really want to pursue, but obviously I'm also concerned about my health. If necessary, we can restrict the threesome to rolling around together/making out/playing with boobs, but I'm really not clear on exactly how HPV can be transmitted other than direct genital-to-genital contact, and it would be nice to incorporate oral and fingering if possible. (I am not going to have penetrative sex with the man involved, because I know HPV can be transferred that way even while using a condom.)

| Spotting a LOT? |

I've been taking Yaz HBC for 12 days now. This is my first month to ever take HBC... ever. Well I'm the worrying type and even though I know that the first month of HBC can lead to spotting, I didn't think it would be this much! I know everyone's body is different but I have never heard of something like this. I have been "spotting" for approximately 5 days now. It was very light and more red at first, but for the past two days it has been a lot heavier (almost like a light period for me) and very thick and brown. I have also been cramping, feeling moody and experiencing more frequent bowel movements (just like I usually do before my usual period without HBC). Should I be worried about this? Is it normal?

I'm 24 & have PCOS. I have had periods maybe once a year or so since I was 18 but for the past few months I have started to get them regularly after starting metformin last summer. It feels so odd to be standing in front of the tampons and pads for the first time really reading boxes and trying to sort out what I should get. I know I'll get sick of it soon enough, but for now I'm sort of enjoying experiencing stuff I never thought I would. I even had a little secret glee when I got cramps for the first time. :D
Anyhow, a couple weeks ago I was feeling some pressure on my bladder/perhaps in my urethra. It didn't burn while urinating nor did I feel like going frequently. Just odd pressure that lasted about a day. I'm feeling the same thing today. My husband and I had sex yesterday and I'm on my period, so I was wondering if the blood/etc. can cause UTIs or UTI-like symptoms?
